What is Faith? "Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ" Romans 10:17 Fear is the opposite of faith Faith is not the product of ones thinking or emotions Show Notes: • Disappointments are believing in something that is not faith. • Remember Satan uses the Word of God to deceive or distract us. • What is God trying to say to us? "Today if you hear My voice do not harden your heart". • The truth out of time is as good as a lie. • The Holy Spirit has to confirm it to you. • Find what you are believing for in the Scriptures. • "Witness" of the word is your experience of that word. • I open my heart to listen and wait for Him to speak. • Faith is imparted to you by the Holy Spirit. • You should be having experiences with the Lord; You should be having some fulfilment in your life. References: Romans 10:17 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Luke 4:9-12 9 And he led Him to Jerusalem and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here; 10 for it is written, ‘HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU TO GUARD YOU,' 11 and, ‘ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.' " 12 And Jesus answered and said to him, "It is said, ‘YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.' " Genesis 3:1 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?" Numbers 14:43-45 43 "For the Amalekites and the Canaanites will be there in front of you, and you will fall by the sword, inasmuch as you have turned back from following the LORD. And the LORD will not be with you." 44 But they went up heedlessly to the ridge of the hill country; neither the ark of the covenant of the LORD nor Moses left the camp. 45 Then the Amalekites and the Canaanites who lived in that hill country came down, and struck them and beat them down as far as Hormah. Hebrews 3:7 7 Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, Hebrews 11:1 1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. James 2:17, 18, 20, 26 17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. 18 But someone may well say, "You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works." 20 But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? 26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. John chapters 14, 15, 16, 17 Quotes: • "What is God trying to get through to you"? • "Today, If you hear my voice, don't not harden your heart." • "Have the Holy Spirit confirm to your heart that it is a word from God". • "I have had an experience in God". • "True Faith comes from God " Take away: Get down to the real depth of your heart in what you believe. Start looking at each thing that you believe, one by one and ask yourself; what am I going to do as an action to express faith in what I believe. What has been spoken to me by the Holy Spirit?
